Mass Save® is an energy efficiency initiative sponsored by Massachusetts’ electric and gas utilities and energy efficiency service providers. Homeowners and renters in 1–4 unit homes may be eligible for a no-cost Home Energy Assessment if they receive electric service from a Mass Save Sponsor.
A certified technician visits your home, identifies areas where you may be losing energy or heat, and provides recommendations for improvements—like insulation or air sealing that reduce draft.
Yes. To qualify, you must be a customer of a participating Mass Save® Sponsor (an eligible electric or gas utility). Additional requirements may apply depending on your home and recent participation. We’ll confirm your eligibility during the application process.
Common upgrades include 75%–100% incentivized insulation measures and 100% no-cost air sealing, all aimed at improving your home’s comfort and reducing energy costs. We also install programmable thermostats, water-saving showerheads, faucet aerators, and provide smart power strips during the Home Energy Assessment.
The assessment typically takes about 2 hours, depending on the size of your home and the number of measures installed during the visit.
Most homeowners reduce energy costs by up to 15% with weatherization — and 20% or more when combined with other upgrades.
